About the Doctor

Dr. Joan Bauernfiend, a native of Huntingburg, IN, completed her undergraduate studies at Indiana University in Bloomington. She then went on to the IU School of Optometry and graduated in May 2008. After graduation, Dr. Bauernfiend chose to complete a one year residency at Nova Southeastern University in Ft. Lauderdale, FL specializing in Pediatrics and Binocular Vision. Upon completion in July 2009, she has moved back to Southern Indiana and now practices as a Developmental/Behavioral Optometrist. Her experience in working with patients of all ages, including infants, has enabled her to utilize both objective and subjective examination techniques to ensure proper vision development in all of her patients.

Dr. Bauernfiend is an Associate Member of the College of Optometrists in Vision Development and a member of the Optometric Extension Program Foundation.
